Modesty ‘Acts’- Rajnikanth bows to Big B’s feet at 45th IFFI
Known for their rootedness are Rajnikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, two great legends in the Indian Film Fraternity. The two veteran actors kick started the 45th IFFI at Goa. They shared the stage with other dignitaries like Arun Jaitley, Laxmikant Parsekar and the brand new Defence Minister and Goa’s ex Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The camaraderie between Big B and Rajnikanth is well known and much spoken of in the media. And one more time at the current film festival happening at Goa, their bond was seen when the two met.
Rajnikanth , in humility bowed down to Big B’s feet as a very humble gesture full of respect. The picture speaks for itself and Rajnikanth bestowed this kind action before awarding the Centernary Award to Amitabh Bachchan.
Rajnikanth too was awarded the Centernary Award by Arun Jaitely. Arun Jaitley commented sating that,’’ cinema is an alternate religion in India.’’ Murmurs rose over when Manohar Parrikar forgot to mention Rajnikanth’s name at the opening ceremony. However apologies were made for the same.
The Centernary Award consists of a silver peacock, certificate and cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000.
Amitabh Bachchan flew to Goa specially for attending the Film Festival. He wrapped up his shoot schedule at Kolkatta, where the actor was shooting for his upcoming film ‘Piku.’
Amitabh Bachchan spoke at this inaugural ceremony of the 11 day long film festival. He recited a famous poem from Harivanshrai Bachchan’s collection of poems. He concluded by saying a dark cinema hall is a place where maximum human integration occur. His speech was responded with a thunderous applaud.
