‘Makdee’ Actress sex racket-A new perspective
She starred as Shruti in ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’, Sweety in ‘Karishma ka Karishma’, Vanchita in ‘Kutumb’ and Ashu in ‘The Magic Make-up Box’ and won our hearts as a child artist. She tasted success as a young lady and made a place in the hearts of all. She bagged the national award for best child artist for ‘Makdee’ in 2002 and made name in Tollywood but today she is in the news for the wrong reasons. The high profile prostitution racket that 23 years old Shweta Basu Prasad has been accused of being a part of is no doubt a shocker for one and all.
The actress was caught in a compromising position with a high profile individual when the police raided a plush hotel at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The news must have taken you by complete surprise and the focus has definitely been placed on the girl but should you not for once sit back and delve into the terrible reasons that must have driven the star into flesh trade? We beg your pardon for the generalization but every woman does flinch for once before even thinking about selling her body to a stranger. Shweta Basu had been going through a dire financial crisis when ‘someone’ encouraged her to take to prostitution. She agreed that she had made a wrong choice but felt pretty helpless back then.
The pimp, Balu who was reportedly collecting Rs.1 lakh each from high flying customers, has been sent to jail while Shweta Prasad has been sent to a Government Rehabilitation Home and will be in remand for some time now. The charge sheet will be filed within the next 10 days.
But the question still remains – is she the only one at fault? Is she at all at fault? Why isn’t the media targeting those shameless men who dared to ‘buy’ a woman for a few hours, who wanted sex but without all of emotional involvement that comes with a girlfriend, marriage and family; wanted casual sex with no obligations attached? Or maybe thought that they are too ugly and couldn’t imagine having sex without paying for it or maybe they were convinced that their genitalia is too small and that any average woman would laugh at them and reject them. Why is the ruckus solely about this one woman who dared to take this route to feed her family? And now we will hear things like – “Oh God! Who will marry her?” Seriously?
Isn’t it high time that we realize a change is so needed in our society? The lady must be so depressed already and we are just contributing to making things worse for her by creating such hype. This article might seem to be doing the same but there is a difference – we choose to inform and provoke you to think over much more important issues of women’s independence, social pressure and hideous male dominance in our society. Don’t forget that even right now the lady must be facing threats from all those brazen politicians and high profile men who must be now busy plotting out ways to save their arse.
Remember, it always takes two hands to clap and well, didn’t the news reporter say that Shweta Basu was found in a compromising position WITH a so called ‘HIGH PROFILE INDIVIDUAL’. Did that ‘individual’ disappear in thin air on being found? Why isn’t the same news channel that destroyed this young lady’s career with a bang, highlighting the horrendous ‘gentleman’ who was caught ‘red-handed’ along with her? The media might not yet know the names of the others involved but cannot pretend to not know this ‘individual’ as well. Or did the gentleman just bribe them? We demand the man concerned to be brought before our eyes as well and be criticized the very same way. Gender bias won’t be tolerated.
