Farhan Akhtar’s next venture will have a universal appeal
Farhan Akhtar, a director and multi-talented personality says he would like to experience ‘another sort of film.’
He plans to work on a film set in pre-independent India, a film he believes that will have a universal appeal.
Akhtar said, “The film that I have in mind is a period drama set in India in 1905. In terms of the content, I feel it is definitely going to be something that appeals to everyone, regardless of culture and language.”
Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001, a film that garnered a lot of praise from the public as well as film critics. Seven years later, the successful director began his acting career with Rock On, a film that connected with the youth and music lovers. The director-actor is open to accepting Hollywood films as long the role connects with him.
His passion and love for directing and acting are equal. “But I can’t do both at the same time. When I am acting I would like to concentrate on it exclusively, the same is for directing. I believe that when you have the passion and potential to show something then flaunt it without hesitation,” he added.
Akhtar gives his 100 percent in everything that he does and focuses on one thing at a time. It’s the passion that keeps him going all the time.
He also spoke about the change in the way movies were made in the first decade of the 21st century and now.
Akhtar said, “There is a great emergence of new talent whose influences are not just based on films that were made in their languages, there has been influences from all over the world. I think that is the big change.”
