Why Did Deepika Refuse To Accept The Best Actress Award?
In an interesting turn of events at the Life Ok Screen Awards, actress Deepika Padukone, who was awarded the Best Actress Popular Choice Award decided to give away the credit to Kangana Ranaut.
While Deepika was awarded for her entertaining performance as a dancer in Happy New Year, she chose to be honest on stage and declare that she thinks it is Kangana who deserves this award for Vikas Bahl directed Queen.
After watching Queen she had praised Kangana and said “I have seen Queen and I am jealous of Kangana’s performance, I think she was outstanding”, however, this still came as a surprise since it was an unpredictably generous gesture.
Though expressing her take on the event Kangana on the other hand said ““Yes, I heard about that, but I hope someday, she would tell me in person what she feels about my work. I would appreciate that a lot more.”
After she received the award on stage, Deepika said “Thank you for this award, but I believe that this year belonged to Kangana. So, Kangana, this one’s for you.”
While she looked stunning in a black Saree already, her magnanimity only added beauty.
It was like a dejavu. Giving away awards is not new to Bollywood. In 1988 it was the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan who gave away his Zee Cine Award for the Best Actor to friend and actor Salman Khan.
While in 2009, Akshay Kumar refused to accept an award and instead dedicated it to Mr. Perfectionist Amir Khan for Ghajni.
It is interesting to note that all the actors Kangana, Amir and Salman generally choose to keep away from award functions and still get to win such respect and admiration for their work not only from the critics and audience but also their contemporaries and Counterparts.
