Anurag to direct a Hollywood thriller post ‘Bombay Velvet’
Anurag Kashyap who is known for his realistic and original concept films made his directorial debut with ‘Paanch’ (yet unreleased) with Kay Kay Menon as the lead. With all the boldness in his movies we knew he had it in him to make his films go international. And now, he is all set to make his Hollywood debut. The film will be a dark crime thriller and will be on floors in July next year.
Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Anurag confirmed, “The international project is currently at a preliminary stage. It will not begin till the final print of Bombay Velvet is delivered. That’s when we will start pre-production on it.”
“It is a big project and there is a lot of development happening on it internationally. We cannot reveal what is going on. As and when the time is right, we will speak about it. At this moment we don’t want to jump the gun,” he added.
This international project is a completely western production and will be shot entirely abroad. Currently, his team is working on the visual effects of ‘Bombay Velvet’. The release of this film which was due next month has been postponed . Bombay of ‘60s is being recreated through VFX and that’s why the work is going slow. About 40% of it is complete though. The work will be done by December and the background music will be completed by January, 2015. The film promotion will start once final editing is done and will be mostly released in May next year. While Ranbir Kapoor will be paired against Anushka Sharma in the film, Raveena Tandon and Karan Johar will also be seen in this masterpiece.
