Acting in Bollywood Movies was not Pre Planned for Fawad Khan
Heartthrob Fawad Khan, a popular Pakistani actor, is the male lead debuting in Bollywood with the remake of cult comedy movie of 80s, ‘Khoobsurat’. He was so nervous facing the camera, tasting the new taste of Indian cinema here because his entry to the Bollywood was not pre planned. “I did not have preconceived notions about Bollywood. (But) There was nervousness as I was to enter and be part of a different world of entertainment which I have not experienced,” Fawad replied in an interview. “It was not pre planned…
To come to Bollywood and do a film. As an artiste one should go wherever the work takes you. It’s a great opportunity for actors to showcase their talent,” heartthrob added. Eye conic 32 years old actor is well known for his stupendous performance in Pakistani daily soaps like ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’. His performance is worth remembering. He debuted with Pakistani film ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ in 2007. For a debutant, it was surprising that his film was the highest grossing Pakistani film of 2007.
Then he acted in film ‘Armaan’. Though Fawad is a newbie in Bollywood industry, still he is so popular in India. Do not be surprised, credit goes to his mesmerizing performance in Pakistani movies and daily soaps. “I am grateful and thankful for all the love, warmth and appreciation that I am getting here,” he said. ‘Khoobsurat’s’ casting director was in awe of the beautiful work he has done in his homeland Pakistan. He found perfectness in Fawad. So, he became the best choice to fit into the shoes of yesteryear actor and today’s successful director, Rakesh Roshan for remaking the movie. ‘Khoobsurat’ leading lady is fashionista Sonam Kapoor.
It is a women centric film and Fawad is so cool about it, he does not find it any risky. “I don’t think it is risky. Actually it is playing it safe. I have been part of women centric stuff in Pakistan. I think it is not fair to divide it (films) as women and men centrics. It ( Khoobsurat) is a classic romcom. As a newcomer, I felt it was better to attempt something safe,” said Fawad. To be an artist is not restricted to one place. It is to grow and explore. “I felt it was a good opportunity for me to do something different. As an artist I don’t want to stay in one place, I want to grow and explore myself. ‘Khubsoorat’ became an excuse for me to try out something different,” he added. He has done his preparations but watching the original ‘Khoobsurat’ directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, featuring sensational, charming and forever young Rekha in the lead role.
He said -“I like to do my homework. When I was called for this film, I made sure I see the original one. I think it was a timeless classic film. I read the script of this film and I think it (original film) is an inspiration but other than that it is different. The campus and structure of this film is different”. In remake of ‘Khoobsurat’ directed by ‘Shashanka Ghosh’ Fawad plays role of a prince charming. It features Kirron Kher and Ratna Pathak, it would be such a treat to watch the movie hitting theaters on September 19.
