Mission Mangal Box Office Collection, Day 4: Akshay Kumar-starrer set to cross Rs 100 crore mark
Entertainment Desk: Just days after its release on Independence Day, Akshay Kumar’s sci-fi movie ‘Mission Mangal’ is topping the box office charts. The movie has engrossed a total of Rs 97.56 crore in its first four days collection and is set to cross Rs 100 crore mark on Day 5, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed on Twitter.
In a twitter post, he wrote, “#Mission Mangal sets the BO on fire… Springs a big surprise… Packs a fabulous total in its extended weekend… Metros superb, mass circuits join the party [on Sun]. India biz.”
Mission Mangal started it’s opening day earning with Rs 29.19 crore. It added Rs 17.38 crore, Rs 23.58 crore and 27.54 crore more in its next three days. After cropping Rs 27.54 crore on Sunday, it broke the record of Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh record of highest first Sunday, which had minted Rs 27.25 crore.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar surpassed the collection of his own movie 2.0’s opening weekend collection of Rs 97.25 crore, which was released in November 2018.
Mission Mangal is based on the “real-life story” of ISRO’s Mars orbiter mission which was launched in 2013. The movie features other casts such as Vidya Balan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. The film has received positive reviews from both critics and audience.
Key contributors to the movie are north Indian states such as Mumbai, Delhi, UP and Punjab where it collected Rs 46 crore out Rs 70.02 crore in its first three days collections. The film is produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studios.
