Divided by husbands, united by Durga
Despite a legal battle between their husbands, cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji were pally at this year’s Durgashtami celebrations
Seven years ago, Ajay Devgn filed and lost a case with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) over alleged coercion by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, when they released Yash Chopra’s swansong Jab Tak Hai Jaan opposite Devgn’s film Son of Sardar. Following the incident, there were reports that first cousins Kajol and Rani were also not on talking terms due to their marriages with Devgn and Aditya Chopra respectively.
However, the sisters showed no sign of animosity on Sunday, when they bonded during the Durgashtami celebrations organised by their families as part of the North Bombay Durga Puja celebrations.
“They were chatting happily. Tanisha, Sarbani and Ayan Mukherji were also there, as the five cousins chatted animatedly with each other with the parents blessing all the cousins. When Kajol and Rani posed together for a picture, Kajol’s father Shomu Mukherji also joined in the revelry posing for a picture with his daughter and niece,” says an eyewitness.
