Sanjay Dutt seeks ‘bail’ to promote PK
Last year actor Sanjay Dutt’s prolonged stay out of prison triggered a controversy forcing the government to order an inquiry into the matter.
Now since his much-anticipated film PK is set to hit the theatres in a few weeks, the actor has applied for a fresh bail application.
The actor is currently at the Yerwadi jail in Pune, serving a sentence for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blast. He has sort a bail plea for 14 days this year. It is speculated that the actor will spend those days promoting his upcoming film, PK.
Dutt is serving a sentence of 42 months for illegal possession of arms during the Mumbai 1993 blasts and has been in jail since May 2013.
The actor had received bail for a month last December, which further got extended for another month as he complained of his wife Manyata’s illness. His prolonged stay out of prison angered many.
Since the then government was lenient about the Sanjay Dutt scenario, the Bombay HC intervened and brought to the notice of the government that cases should be dealt with equally.
