Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty Shake hands to remake ‘Ram Lakhan’
Do you know what the breaking news in the Bollywood industry is? Well, filmmaker Karan Johar in association with Mukta Arts is producing the remake of 1989 legendary film ‘Ram Lakhan’, co written and directed by Showman Subash Ghai. Colossal film is the mile stone of Anil Kapoor’s and Jackie Shorff’s film career.Director Rohit Shetty is directing the film, which would release in 2016. The big announcement was made on Karan’s Dharma Productions Twitter handle. Tweet reads-“Here’s the big announcement! Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff were the heros, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia were the leading ladies and Raakhee and Amrish Puri have acted wonderfully well in the cult. Blockbuster’s USP were the lyrics penned down by Anand Bakshi and music by Laxmikant Pyarelal. Mohammed Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal and Nitin Mukesh gave their voices to the crazy hit song “One Two Ka Four”. It topped the “Cibaca Geet Mala” (the annual countdown radio show). Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar sung “Bada Dukh Deena” and won “1989 Sur-Singar Samsad Award” for the best classical based music song of the year. For its outstanding sales, film made the history by having its individual compact disc and bagged Quadruple Platinum (four times platinum) Disc.
It is Karan Johar’s and Rohit Shetty’s first film together. They have collaborated with Subash Ghai as co producer. Nowthat is exciting. Isn’t it? Karan is glad to rope Ghai. Mukta Arts have sold the rights to Karan for 5 whooping crores. While cast is yet to be finalized, Jackie Shroff said “Obviously Anil and I should play Lakhan and Ram again.” Hansal Mehta agrees. He said-“Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor should reprise their roles.”
Meanwhile directors are guessing the star cast. “Ajay Devgn as Ram, for his power and intense silences and Arjun Kapoor, as Lakhan for his ishaqzaade street smartness. And yes, I’d love to reprise my role of Devdhar, provided Anupam Kher returns to his role of Kashiram. They were one of the funniest comic twosome in Indian cinema”, said Satish Kaushik.
According to Ken Ghosh,“Siddharth Malhotra or Aditya Roy Kapoor for Jackie’s part. Both have the smouldering intensity required to play the role. And Arjun Kapoor for Anil’s role. Arjun has been rehearsing for this role all his life”
Shailendra Singhsaid“Karan Johar and Kapil Sharma as Ram and Lakhan.”That would be a breath of sarcastic fresh air.
Sanjay Guptasaid “Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan should play Ram and Lakhan. More importantly Boman Irani should play Anupam Kher’s role.” If this happens, they would be seen together, after Student of the Year. “I’d like to see Ranbir Kapoor as Lakhan and Sushant Singh Rajput as Ram” said Umesh Shukla. As per Ajay Bahl, “Siddharth Malhotra as Ram and Ranveer Singh as Lakhan.” Onir said “Ranveer Singh as Ram and Sushant Singh Rajput as Lakhan.” Kunal Deshmukh said “Ranveer Singh for Lakhan because he has the crazy energy to pull it off. And Ajay Devgn for Ram.
It would be a treat to watch reprised version of eye conic Lakhan dance on our screens.
